Battletoads is a Platinum and Strider is Gold as protonDB says. When I hit play it says it will launch the game, nothing happens. Then I tried to install Strider (size based choice) and also didnt work. So I went with the proton 6.3.7, also no lucky. But to help others that might not know as I didnt know and might be useful, the first one is to mount as my user/group, the second one is to mount as my group, user and set directory/files permissions and the third one should not be used and only be read only, but in the end it mounts as user root with permission 777 for user, group and other.Īfter I successfully linked Steam Linux to my NTFS Steam Library (Windows), I tried to play the only installed game Battletoads, and Steam downloaded proton experimental, didnt work. Steam complained in a way or another, later I found out an insteresting thing if windows hibernates his partition can be mounted only as read only and if windows is in middle of an update (downloading or whatever) he will lock all NTFS partitions. UUID=CEEE8F1FEE8EFF49 /mnt/NTFS/Games ntfs defaults 0 0 UUID=CEEE8F1FEE8EFF49 /mnt/NTFS/Games ntfs-3g defaults,rw,nls=utf8,umask=000,dmask=022,fmask=133,uid=1000,gid=1000,windows_names 0 0Īnd I went back to how I did it in the first place: In the end he didnt acess it because it was mounted in /home/NTFS, then I changet to /home/myuser/NTFS and it still didnt access it, so I had to go with /mnt/NTFS/partiton. One is that I should mount with ntfs-3g instead of ntfs and that I should make my user the owner, and so on. Now lets go to the Steam Drama haha.įirst issue I got is that even though NTFS partitions were mounted trough FSTAB the Steam wouldnt access it, I learnt some cool things. I installed Firewalld and Firejail if it might be an issue too. I got Vulkan to work, configured Wine, used Lutris to run client from the NTFS Partition and installed Diablo 3 (choosen by download size) just to make sure Vulkan, DXVK, VKD3D and so on worked fine. I think it is a far better installed system since before.Īrch: I installed it again from scratch, this time with KDE Wayland and all the Security recomendations done (at least those that I needed to edit a conf file and was simple to do, didnt try ACL and other advanced stuff). After learning about more I decided to read again most of the wiki, make a guide for myself and do it all again for fun. But this first installation was really a noob first try. I did install Steam at the time, but never tried to run a game from it. I did make vulkan, wine and Lutris work properly to play Blizzard Games, mainly WoW. Issue: I click play and nothing seems to happenīackground: I installed Arch Linux about 3 years ago, used it for 6 months or so and returned for Windows (I did keep both installed and went on Arch sometimes for nostalgic reasons).
